Cabinet OKs flyover at busy Naraina T-Junction
New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) The Delhi cabinet today gave a green signal for the construction of a special flyover at regular bottleneck Naraina T-junction at Ring Road in West Delhi.
The cabinet, in a meeting presided by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, decided that a new flyover at Naraina T-Junction at Ring Road with an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore, would be commissioned by 2008 well before commencement of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
The new flyover would facilitate a smooth flow for vehicular traffic through Naraina village, which would have save fuel and avoid pollution.
The construction of a flyover at this junction had become imminent for making Ring Road from Shalimar Bagh upto Mool Chand signal-free. The new flyover would not only decongest traffic at this junction, but also make most of the portion of the Ring Road signal-free.
Ms Dikshit further said special features of Naraina Flyover included a five m wide pedestrian sub-way between Ring Road and Loha Mandi, a 7.5 m underpass towards Mayapuri side, Foot Over Bridge with escalators, bus bays, overhead signages, water harvesting, provision of noise/dust barrier, provision of horticulture and landscaping for proper beautification and adequate illumination by providing High Mast Area Lighting System.
