BJP's Sanjay Paswan joins Congress
New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) Former Union Minister Sanjay Paswan today joined the Congress, describing his action as a ''home coming'' and reposing his faith in the party.
Announcing Mr Paswan's entry into the Congress, AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi said Mr Paswan had expressed the desire to join the Congress and party president Sonia Gandhi had approved his admission.
Addressing a press conference in the Parliament precincts, Mr Dwivedi said that Dr Paswan was joining the Congress as he regarded the party as ''truly secular and progressive, and capable of facing the internal and external challenges.'' Formerly in the BJP, Dr Paswan told mediapersons that the Congress was a party which looked after the interests of the weaker sections of society. ''It had maintained the secular fabric of the country and enabled it to forge ahead,'' he said, and vowed to always remain commited to the ideals of the Congress and be its member for life.
