Baseball clinic starts on Dec 1

Hyderabad, Nov 27 (UNI) A two-day baseball clinic with American coaches Jeff Brueggemann and David Palese will take place at the football stadium and south central railway recreation ground here on December one and two.

According to a release here today, Andhra Pradesh Baseball Association was co-sponsoring the event along with the US Consulate General Chennai. Both the coaches would train local players and coaches, and over 200 players including beginners would participate in the training session, it added.

The coaches were in India under the aegis of the Envoy Programme of Major League Baseball International (USA) partnered in India by the Manipur-based promotion group, First Pitch and the American Embassy.

The first training camp was held in Imphal from November 5 to 13 in which over 100 players and 30 coaches participated. Besides Imphal, these clinics had been organised in Kolkata, Mumbai, Goa, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Chennai.

The envoy programme developed by Major League Baseball International in 1991 utilized top high school, college and professional baseball coaches. Envoy coaches were selected based on their experience, expertise and passion for teaching the game to culturally diverse audiences in countries throughout the world.

The programme had sent baseball coaches on more than 700 assignments in 72 different countries and territories, the release added.
