Anti AFSPA day observed in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 27: Amnesty International, Manipur unit, today observed the Anti Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958, demanding withdrawal of such provision in the state.

A discussion was also held on the issue at the Press Club where human rights activists and politicians had attended.

Co-ordinator of AI LC Jenine said the discussion was held to creat awareness among the people against such law.

The speakers also reminded the government about the fast unto death agitation by Irom Sharmila for past six years demanding repeal of the act.
