10 kg ganja seized in AP, 4 held

Visakhapatnam, Nov 27 (UNI) Police today seized ten kg of ganja worth Rs one lakh and arrested four people in this connection at Chodavaram Mandal of the district.

Police said the arrested were identified as C Raju of Bayalapudi Village in Chedikada Mandal in the district and Sivakumar, Selven and M Sekhar of Chennai in Tamil Nadu.

The ganja was illegally cultivated and used to be transported to Chennai, Kerala and West Bengal. The plantations were located mostly on the Andhra-Orissa border.

The outlawed Maoists supported the illegal cultivation and transportation of ganja and collected huge amounts from the contracts, they added.

The main accused Fathima was absconding. A local court remanded the accused in judicial custody.
