US-India Business Summit from Nov 29

Mumbai, Nov 26 (UNI) A two-day US-India Business Summit will be held here beginning November 29, to be inaugurated at the hands of Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath.

The Summit will be attended by US Department of Commerce Under Secretary Franklin L Lavin, who is leading a 238-member trade delegation to India, a press release from the American Center here said.

The Summit is being jointly organised by FICCI, CII and the US&Foreign Commercial Service.

Among the others who will be attending the Summit are Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Ashwani Kumar, and Commerce Secretary Gopal K Pillai.

The two-day summit will have plenary sessions on ''Doing Business in India: The Big Picture, Indian and US companies success stories'' which will be chaired and addressed by top CEOs of Indian and American companies.

US Consul General Michael Owen informed that the mission of the 238-member US trade delegation, the largest ever trade delegation to visit India, ''is to position US firms for long-term business successs in this fast growing market so we can expand our exports and create more American Jobs''.

He said India is one of the few countries in the world with which the US shares sub-cabinet commercial dialogue. The US also has sub-cabinet level commercial dialogues with Brazil, China, the EU and NAFTA partners Canada and Mexico, he added.
