Tripura beats J and K by 132 runs

Agartala, Nov 26 (UNI) Tripura beat Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) by 132 runs in the low scoring Ranji Plate 1 group opener here at the MBB stadium today.

Set a victory target of 288 runs, J&K could not withstand the pace attack of Tripura and wickets kept a losing wickets at regular intervals.

They were skittled out for a mere 155 in 50.4 overs. Vineet Jain was the wrecker-in-chief taking five wickets giving away 40 runs in the second essay.

He took 4-40 in the first essay. Tushar Saha took 2-22.

Arshad was the top scorer for J&K with 34 runs. Tushar, meanwhile, was declared the Man of the Match for his all round performance.

With this win, Tripura earned four points from the match. They will now play Services from December 1 to 4 in Delhi.

Tripura Coach and former Indian player Karsan Ghavri expressed deep satisfaction at the outcome of the match. ''We have started the season in a wonderful manner. I believe my boys will continue their good form in the coming matches too and will try to qualify for the Elite Group next season,'' said an visibly happy Ghavri adding that win was possible only due to team work.
