Students launch SMS fund for under privileged colleagues

Mumbai, Nov 26 (UNI) Students of Jai Hind College at Churchgate here have launched a dedicated SMS number where people who want to assist students from under privileged sections can register and pledge funds.

The endeavour, which seeks to raise about Rs five lakh is part of the annual inter-collegiate festival ''Talaash'' that commences next month, but the fund collection has already started.

Interested people can type ''Talaash'' and send the SMS to the dedicated number (3650). The students of the college will get in touch with the people sending the message and later collect funds.

Besides this drive, each student of the college is contributing Rs 1,000 for this purpose. Students are also approaching clubs to garner funds for their project to help the underprivileged students.

The drive, which started yesterday will conclude on Tuesday 28, when which the annual function of the college commences with fanfare hosted by the 100-odd students of Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS).

The cultural events will commence on December 2 and will end on December 11, when Bollywood personalities. The festival, would, however, strictly adhere to the motto of the college ''I will and I can'', as it enters into its seventh edition.

The youth festival, is one of the most awaited events of the calendar year for the future managers and this time around, students from all over the country including Pune, Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi are also participating.
