Rishab Pandya, Rehan Shaikh steal thunder
Pune, Nov 26 (UNI) Rishabh Pandya's highest tournament break of fifty saw Spring Club, Mumbai derail Daund Railway Institute 3-0 after their well-earned 2-1 win earlier over Nasikites in the 'PYC ATC Snooker Challenge' league here today.
Rehan looked well set to cross the 100 break mark after the break of 50, but lost momentum with four reds and clearance remaining on the table. The Spring Club making their maiden appearance, however, maintained their lead with two straight wins in Group D'.
Hot on the heels of Spring Club were Nasikites, another team led from the front by former national player Rehan Shaikh, who has picked up the cue after six years of lay off from the game.
Presently practicing at Nashik Gymkhana, Rehan, after losing his first match to Spring Club's Karan Anand in straight frames, came on his own winning two of his matches on a trot.
Rehan also had a break of 49 against Manoj Shaikh of Pune Markers, in their two matches victories over Daund Railway Institute and Pune Markers to remain in the hunt to qualify for the knock-out.
