Ratlam, MP, Nov 26 (UNI) BJP leader and former Union Minister Arif Mohammed Khan today said reservation on religious grounds was not appropriate and claimed that the demand for reservation for Muslims was being made by people, who do not want that backward class Muslims come forward.

Mr Khan told UNI here that five per cent Muslims were already included as members of SC community since 1950 and were getting reservation benefits.

On clemency plea for Parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru, he said raising the demand by people holding constitutional posts was inappropriate and added that the Constitution provided for presenting clemency plea following the court verdict.

The BJP leader claimed that people were not happy with the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government in Uttar Pradesh and will bear the burnt in the forthcoming assembly elections in that state.
