Rajnath re-elected BJP president

New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) Mr Rajnath Singh was today elected unopposed for a three-year term as BJP president.

The announcement to this effect was made by national returning officer O P Kohli half an hour ahead of the closure of the timing of receiving the nomination papers.

Among those who were present on the occasion included former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and senior leaders L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Vijay Kumar Malhotra and Kalyan Singh.

Mr Singh was chosen party president at the national executive in Mumbai last december after then chief L K Advani stepped down.

Expressing his happiness over the re-election, Mr Singh said he would continue to work under the guidance and leadership of party stalwarts Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L K Advani.

When he came here at party headquarters to file his papers, Mr Singh was greeted by enthusiastic supporters beating drums and setting off crackers.
