PMK stir against killing of Tamils in SL

Puducherry, Nov 26 (UNI) Holding black flags, volunteers of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today staged a demonstration near the Venkatasubbareddiyar statue to condemn the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Led by state secretary and two party legislators, the agitation was part of the party's stir in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to protest against the ''massacre'' of Tamils by Sri Lankan army.

The PMK volunteers also hoisted black flags atop their residence as a mark of protest.

Meanwhile, a few volunteers of the Periyar Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam were arrested when they attempted to burn the effigy of Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksea, who is on a visit to India and to condemn the killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka.

Police took away the effigy from the volunteers when they assembled before the Kamban Kalai Arangam here to burn it.
