Phalodi Jaisalmer line to be commissioned on Dec 15
Jodhpur, Nov 26 (UNI) North Western Railway(NWR) is all set to commission a new rail-link connecting Phalodi in Jodhpur district with border districts of Bikane and Jaisalmer and parts of Punjab.
According to NWR general manager S B Bhattacyarya, the section would start operations from December 15. Bhattacharya said the construction of railway station, track and signalling system on the newly introduced rail section has been completed.
He said ''the Railway Board had given the deadline of December 31 for the completion of the work on the Kolayat -Phalodi link but we were able to complete the project about a fortnight before the dead line''.
He said this rail route will not only be highily beneficial from the defence point of view but will also open new avenues for the development of Jaisalmer and Bikaneer. He said the NWR would propose a direct train between the two border cities of the state and a new link for Jodhpur-Bikaneer via Phalodi.
