Pathanamthitta wins overall title

Kannur, Kerala, Nov 26 (UNI) Pathanamthitta district lifted the overall championship of the 15th Kerala Deaf and Dump Athletic meet, which concluded here today.

Pathanamthitta collected 219 points to emerge champions, while Ernakulam and Kottayam bagged the second and third place with 199 and 126 points respectively.

More than 900 talented sportspersons representing from nearly 45 special schools in the state competed in 67 sports and games events during the three-day meet.

Pathanamthitta district, which dominated in almost all the events, also won the overall men title with 148 points, while Ernakulam walked away with the women title with 107 points.

The men's athletic title also went in favour of Pathanamthitta with 148 points.

Abin Thomas and S Nageer of Pathanamthitta were adjudged as the individual champions in the men and junior boys section with 15 points each.

Following were the other individual champions: Sub-Junior boys: Nithin Joy (Ernakulam) 10 points, Women: Baby Vijaya (Kasaragod) 15 points.

Junior girls: P J Princy Mol (Pathanamthitta) 15 points.

Sub-Junior girls: Neethumol (Wayanad) 10 points.
