Paramilitary forces to be deployed for Chamundeshwari by-poll

Mysore, Nov 26 (UNI) Seven companies of Paramilitary forces would be deployed in the by-polls for Chamundeshwari Assembly segment to be held on December four.

Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner S Selva Kumar said that under instructions from the election commission observers, the district administration had sought the para force to help conduct free and fair polls. The forces would be deployed from November 28, he said.

He said out of 346 booths, 209 polling booths had been declared as hypersensitive and 129 polling booths as sensitive. As many as 65 pool campaign related cases were booked against all the parties and Rs 44,000 was collected as fine. Five unauthorised vehicles were seized.

Candidates had been provided police protection as per request. 20 videographers had been deployed in the constituency.

City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood said the Election Commission had taken note of complaints regarding obstructing certain party leaders during campaigning.
