Orissa gets 2 points, match drawn

Cuttack, Nov 26 (UNI) A brilliant 161-run partnership between Test discard Debashis Mohanty and Haladhar Das helped Orissa take first innings lead and two points in their drawn encounter with Services in the Ranji match at the Barbati stadium here today.

Resuming on their overnight total of 261 for six, Debashish and Haladhar played responsibly to see Orissa cross the services first innings total of 346.

But unfortunately Debashis fell three short of his century when he was run out for 97. Haladhar Das, who was 56 overnight, went on to play freely but fell short of his century when he was out for 86.

The Orissa innings closed at 399. The host team had a first innings lead of 53 runs. For Services Fazil Mahammad and A.K.Mohanty took three wickets each for 74 and 75 runs respectively.

With little time left for close of play, the formalities of Services second innings took place with the team scoring 37 for no loss when the stumps were drawn.
