Load-shedding to continue in NE states

Aizawl, Nov 26 (UNI) NEEPCO authorities has informed the northeastern states that a few more days will be required to improve the overall power scenario in the region.

Additional chief engineer of Mizoram power deparment H L Parthasarathy said here today that NEEPCO had sought some more time for resumption of operation in the 405 MW Ranganadi Hydro Electrical Power Station (RHEP) in Arunachal Pradesh.

The NEEPCO authorities informed the NE Regional Load Despatch Centre (NERLDC) that in view of the abnormal seepage/leakage of water from the Adit-3 of the Head Race Tunnel of the RHEP all three units of the power station were under forced shutdown with effect from November 8.

Initially, the time sought for repair of the tunnel was ten days butt now, the NEEPCO said it require not less than 30 to 40 days to make the power station operational, Mr Parthasarathy said.

However, NEEPCO officials said efforts have been made to increase the generation at the Assam Gas-based Power Project through requests to M/S Oil India Limited to enhance gas supply from the present 1.4 MMSCUMD to about 1.65 MMSCUMD.
