Karan Anand claims Jr Snooker crown
Mumbai, Nov 26 (UNI) Karan Anand made a late charge to overcome formidable Rovin D'Souza 3-2 in an absorbing championship round to claim the Junior Snooker title in the Malabar Hill Club Maharashtra State Selection Billiards and Snooker Tournament today.
Karan endured an early setback after dropping the opening frame and trailing 1-2 in the best-of-five frames final. But he got back into the match when he snatched the crucial fourth frame by a huge margin and was inspired in the decider to seal a close victory.
D'Souza later made amends when he beat R Sharma 3-1 in the senior snooker second round that saw the fancied players ease through.
Nikhil Ootam was the only formidable cueist to be stretched all the way before he escaped to a 3-2 win over Aditya Kapoor.
