Ranchi, Nov 26 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today said it would hand over the Ankua mines to the Mittal group as an alternative to Chiria mines.

Chief Minister Madhu Koda here said that as the Chiria mines issue was still lying with the court the government had decided to offer the Ankua mines to the Mittal group, world's leading steel manufacturing company, to establish its proposed steel plant in the state.

Mr Koda said though the group had not given any intimation in this regard so far the efforts were on for foreign investment in the state.

Clarifying the doubts raised over state human resource development minister Bandhu Tirkey's recent statements on the Chiria mines issue, the chief minister said Mr Tirkey's statement was related with the welare of tribals, being displaced due to industrialisation.

A new industrial displacement policy would be announced next month, Mr Koda said adding the state government would also cooperate in expansion projects of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
