India wins 1st Asia Wuko Continental Karate championships

Visakhapatnam, Nov 26 (UNI) India today won the first Asia Wuko Continential Open Karate Championships in the four-day Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Welfare Cup at Swaranabharati Indoor Stadium here.

India stood first with 204 points, followed by Nepal with 118 in the second place and Sri Lanka with 37 in the third place.

Talking to newspersons here, the Karate Organising Committee Chairman M Vijay Prasad and All India Budokan Karate Federation President Ch Hanumantha Rao said india won 18 gold medals, Nepal 19, Sri Lanka four, Bangaladesh six, Brazil two and Saudi Arabia one.
