Govt to procure essential commodities for farmers: Reddy

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Government today decided to procure essential commodities worth Rs 500 crore and would provide remunerative prices to the farmers in the State.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, while reviewing the Indira Kranthi Patham, said the Government would eliminate middlemen and provide essential commodities at reasonable rates to the consumers.

Dr Reddy said the Government had earmarked sufficient funds to provide Minimum Support Price(MSP) for the products to help the farmers.

The Self-Help Groups(SHG) should be strengthened to improve the economic conditions of the women in villages, he added.
