Gaza ceasefire begins

GAZA, Nov 26 (Reuters) A Gaza ceasefire to halt Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel and a five-month-old Israeli military offensive in the territory began today.

The ceasefire, which went into effect at 0600 hrs (local time), could set the stage for a long-awaited summit between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on restarting West Asia peace moves.
