Former cricketer arrested, for conspiring to kill gangster
New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) Delhi Police have arrested two persons, including a former national-level cricketer, for hatching a conspiracy to eliminate a gangster in police custody.
Satender and Vikas Dahiya were arrested yesterday afternoon near Mittal Garden on the MG Road when they were giving final touches to their plan. Another of their associates, however, managed to escape.
Interrogation of the two revealed that they had planned to eliminate a gangster named Surjeet, presently lodged in jail, at the time of his arrival in the Gurgaon court complex.
Interrogation of Vikas revealed that he had had a brilliant career in cricket, having represented India in the under 20 cricket team in in the year 2000 and also went to South Africa to participate in the Junior Federation World cup. However, in later years, he fell in bad company and commited more than 100 incidents of snatchings in Delhi alongwith other associates.
