Foreign delegates to attend IIM-K global workshop

Kozhikode, Nov 26 (UNI) As many as 48 delegates from the country and abroad would participate in the international workshop on 'Greenstone Digital Library Software' beginning here tomorrow.

New Zealand Greenstone Digital Library Software director Ian H Witten, is one of the experts, who would be addressing the delegates at the six-day event, Dr Nanda Kumar, Professor of Economics IIM-K and Workshop Coordinator M G Sreekumar told reporters here today.

Workshop on Digital Libraries using the open source software ''Greenstone'' was being held for the first time in the country and it aims at bringing its unilimited potential to the public, in the building of state-of-the-art digital libraries, which would facilitate empowering communities, universities and institutions in the digital era, they claimed.

Foreign delegates who confirmed participation in the event jointly organised by IIM-K, UNESCO and Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India, are from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Germany, they said.
