Guna, MP, Nov 26 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Anang Kumar Pattnaik today said that all sides concerned ought to make efforts at their respective levels for maintaining the dignity of courts.

''This dignity cannot be maintained without purity and morality in law,'' he said in the district and sessions court premises here at the unveiling ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi's statue.

Among those present were former Supreme Court chief justice Ramesh Chandra Lahoti, who presided over the programme, and state Human Rights Commission Chairman D M Dharmadhikari.

''The Mahatma's principle of non-violence can never be described as out of context. If the path of violence was the right one, the situation in the Kashmir Valley, Sri Lanka etc would have been different. Gandhi's principles are immortal,'' felt Chief Justice Pattnaik.

Speaking on the occasion, Jaipur-based Mansarovar Trust Chairman N M Ranka said that a target was set for setting up the Father of the Nation's images at 22 high courts.
