Citizenship bill passed for Terai people
Kathmandu, Nov 26(UNI) Nepal's parliament, today passed the Citizenship Bill, which paves way for thousands of people of Terai to acquire Nepali citizenship.
Any person born before April 1990 and living in Nepal since then, is eligible to acquire citizenship of Nepal, the bill passed by the parliament today said.
Land ownership certificates or house ownership certificates or their registration number in voters' lists will be considered as evidence for that, it is said.
The Nepalese Parliament passed the bill in accordance with the agreement forged between the seven parties alliance and the Maoists to resolve the citizenship issue.
