New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) After eluding Delhi for nearly a month in the post-Diwali period, Winter seems to have truly arrived here with the mercury in the capital today dropping to 8.3 degree Celsius, the lowest of this season.

It was another chilly morning that welcomed Delhiites with the minimum temperature of 8.3 degree C being two degrees below the normal temperature at this time of the year.

In fact, it was the lowest temperature of this season, the previous lowest being 8.5 degree C recorded yesterday.

Today being the second consecutive day that the mercury has fallen below nine Degree C shows that Winter has well and truly arrived in the capital.

The chill in the air is likely to continue in the coming days with the weathermen forecasting that cold wave conditions were likely to continue for another 24 hours.

They have forecast the minimum temperature to drop to seven degree C tomorrow although the sky would remain largely clear.

Weathermen say the coming weeks could witness a fall of two to four degrees C in night temperatures in NorthWest India, thus indicating a continuance of chilly mornings.

The last nearly a month in thre post-Diwali period, which usually marks the onset of Winter, has witnessed unusually warm weather with the night temperature being five to six degrees above normal.

However, recent snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal, induced by a fresh western disturbance, have brough about a sharp fall in night temperatures in Delhi over the last week.
