Another held in Anant kidnapping case

Noida, Nov 26 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested another person in connection with the November 13 kidnapping of three-year-old Anant.

22-year-old Pawan, who along with prime accused Chhatrapal Singh had allegedly kidnapped Anant, was arrested by the police last evening from Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh, police said.

Hunt had been on for Pawan ever since the arrest of Chhatrapal on November 20 brought to light his involvement in the crime.

During interrogation, Chhatrapal allegedly disclosed that he and Pawan had conspired to kidnap Anant. Chhatrapal, now in judicial custody, also revealed to the police that after kidnapping Anant on November 13, he and his accomplice Pawan fled to Hardoi.

Pawan was today produced in a city court which remanded him to a 14-day judicial custody.

Pawan is the sixth person to be arrested in the case.

Police had on November 17 arrested Chhatrapal's brother Jitendra as his mobile phone was allegedly used for making the ransom calls.

Also among those arrested in the case on November 20 were one Sunil, his uncle Veer Singh and aunt Santosh , residents of Khairnangla village near Farukkhabad where the kidnappers stayed for some time after fleeing. The three were arrested for harbouring the kidnappers.

The day after the kidnapping, the abductors fled to Khairnangla village where they stayed in a tube-well shed of Sunil.
