Advocates welfare fund raised to Rs 10 lakh

Puducherry, Nov 26 (UNI) The Puducherry administration today enhanced the financial assistance to the advocates welfare fund to Rs 10 lakh from the present Rs five lakh.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy announced the enhancement while participating in the Law day function organised by the Puducherry Bar Association.

The Chief Minister, who inaugurated the group insurance scheme for the lawyers here at the function also distributed prizes to winners of several competitions organised in connection with the Law day, besides honouring lawyers, who had completed 25 years of service.

Former Rajya Sabha member from Puducherry C P Thirunavukkarasu, who is also a lawyer donated Rs one lakh towards the advocate welfare fund at the function.

Justice Dinakaran, judge of the Madras High Court and Puducherry Bar Association president C P T Ramesh, were among others, who participated in the function.
