150 fall ill after food poisoning in HP

Dharamshala, Nov 26 (UNI) Over 150 people, including women and children, have, fallem ill after having food during a religious festival in a village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh yesterday, a senior district medical officer said today.

People started vomiting, ran high fever and reported loose motions at Khairian village of the district yesterday, Jawali Medical Officer Aman Dua told UNI here.

He said about 75 patients visited Jawali Civil Hospital and 18 of them had been admitted to the hospital.

Several patients also reported acute abdominal pain besides vomiting and loose motions, he said.

About 80 more people visited the hospital early this morning with the same symptoms and seven of them had been admitted for treatment, he said.

Mr Dua said though no death has been reported due to food poisoning in the area, one patient was referred to Dr R P Government Medical College at Tanda after his condition worsened.

A group of doctors from Dr R P Government Medical College and a team of Integrated Disease Surveillance Project have arrived in the village to provide medical help to the sick.
