Yoga education will be given in schools: Chouhan

Jabalpur, Nov 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced that yoga education will be introduced in school education in a phase-wise manner.

''The introduction of yoga in schools will enable children to learn the principles to remain healthy apart from their studies during childhood,'' Mr Chouhan said, while inaugurating Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev's six-day yoga camp here today.

State Health Minister Ajay Vishnoi and Mayor Sushila Singh were present on the occasion.

Mr Chouhan urged Baba Ramdev to set up a branch of his 'Patanjali Yoga Peetha' in Madhya Pradesh so that people could get information on yoga easily and readily.

He promised all support from the state government in this regard.

Pointing out that herbs were found in abundant in the state, he said ayurvedic medicines will be available to common people at lower prices if Patanjali Yoga Sansthan helped in exploiting these herbs.

He said such camps would be greatly beneficial for people to remain healthy and urged the Yoga Guru to organise a similar camp in the state capital.

Baba Ramdev described yoga as the best means to remain healthy and claimed that yoga and pranayama helped in getting rid of ailments.

He praised the working style of Mr Chouhan and said the government was working towards the state's development and people's welfare.

He informed that a yoga camp would be organised in the state capital soon and assured the Chief Minister to opening up a branch of 'Patanjali Yoga Peetha' in the state.

The Yoga Guru appreciated the dedication of people of the state towards yoga.

He said India would definitely emerge as a healthier and stronger nation if such kind of dedication was found everywhere.
