Vidharbha take lead over Kerala

Palakkad, Nov 25 (UNI) A gutsy 53 by all rounder Chandrasekhara Atram and valuable 40 runs by Samir Khare helped Vidharbha to wrest a 55- run first innings lead over hosts Kerala on the pemultimate day of Ranji plate 'A' cricket tournament played at the Fort Maidan here today.

The visitors, who resumed play added a comfortable 155 runs to their overnight score of 191 for five.

Atram, who scalped five Kerala's wickets, proved he was not behind in batting as the all rounder contributed 53 valuable runs to Vidharbha before he was bowled out by S Aneesh.

Suresh, the most economic bowler of the hosts, with careful bowling pocketed three wickets conceding only 30 runs in 27 overs.

Though Prasanth Chandran's spell was constlier. also claimed three wickets conceding 74 runs in 24 overs.

In their second innings, Kerala scored 70 runs for the loss of one wicket.

S Ramesh and Robert Fernandez were batting with 49 and 11 runs respectively on the close of the third day of the match.
