TN Dalit Sena urge reservation
Chennai, Nov 25 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Dalit Sena today urged the state government to extend reservation enjoyed by Scheduled Castes to Dalit Muslims and Christians.
Adopting a resolution to this effect, a meeting of Dalit Sena office bearers, Chaired by state President M Palanimuthu here, condemned the ''communal'' Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for opposing reservation to Muslims and Christians convereted from scheduled caste.
In another resolution, the Sena also urged the Centre to implement reservation in higher educational institutions at one go, instead of in a phased manner.
It appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to fill up the posts reserved for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes in the way the Centre is filling up the vacancies on priority basis.
The Sena, in another resolution, urged the state government to come out with a report, detailing the number of cases filed under the SC/ST Atrocities Act, number of people convicted and number of cases dismissed.
