Sit in protest held to demand repeal of AFSPA

Imphal, Nov 25 (UNI) The Manipur People's Party(MPP) today staged a sit in protest at its office premises demanding repeal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSP) 1958.

The MPP was also supposed to carry out a rally as part of its agitation. However, it was cancelled as Imphal West Deputy Commissioner K K Chhetry imposed prohibitory orders under CrPC 144 in Imphal West area.

A large number of MPP leaders took part in the agitation demanding repeal of the AFSPA. The NCP had also staged a sit in protest at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi recently to demand the repeal of the Act.
