Rajnath set for renewed term as BJP Prez tomorrow
New Delhi, Nov 25: BJP President Rajnath Singh is all set to get a renewed three-year term as party president tomorrow.
Mr Singh is expected to file his papers tomorrow, the last day for filing nominations. The re-election of the senior leader to the party top post appears to be a mere formality as he enjoys the backing of senior leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Jaswant Singh Vijay Kumar Malhotra and Sushma Swaraj.
The official announcement by BJP's National Returning Officer O P Kohli is expected after the scrutiny of nomination papers.
The party has planned its next National Executive and National Council meeting in Lucknow on December 22 and 23. The ratification of the new president would be done by the National Council, party sources said.
In the meanwhile, Mr Advani has nominated about 70 MPs from the BJP Parliamentary Party to the National Council as authorised by the office bearers of the party to facilitate organisational elections.
One tenth of the Parliamentary Party gets represented in the all powerful National Council body.
