Police defeuse bomb in Moscow University
Moscow, Nov 25 (UNI) A bomb disposal squad defused a bomb equivalent to one kg of TNT in a Moscow University following an explosion in the university dormitory early today.
''The capacity of an explosive device that was discovered and defused at Moscow State University today was equivalent to from 500 gm to one kg of TNT,'' Moscow Prosecutor Yury Syomin told Interfax news agency.
''An express analysis has shown that this improvised case-free explosive device was based on Ammonium Saltpeter,'' Mr Syomin said.
''Earlier explosion of a case-free explosive device equivalent in its capacity to 50 gm of TNT damaged a plaster wallboard,'' he said, adding that there were no casualties.
After evacuating students from the residential hall, housed in a Stalin-era highrise, police combed the building only to discover one more homemade explosive device.
Prosecutors opened a case of suspected hooliganism.
The university's life went on as usual and students attended lectures, Moscow State University rector Viktor Sadovnichy told mediapersons.
''No one of our students was injured in the explosion,'' Mr Sadovnichy said.
