Nine-day festival at Godess Padmavathi temple concludes

Tirupati, Nov 25 (UNI) The nine-day 'Kartheeka Brahmotsavam' at the Padmavathy temple at Tiruchanur concluded here today with the 'Panchami Theertham', ritual symbolising the manifestation of the Godess in the temple tank and the lowering of the temple flag.

Amidst chanting of vedic hymns, a celestial bath was given to the idol of Godess Padmavathi with turmeric, tulasi and sandal paste brought from the Venkateswara temple at Tirumala on a caparisoned elephant.

Later, 'Chakrasanam' was also performed with 'Sudarshana Chakra', thed weapon of Lord Vishu given a holy dip in the temple tank, between 1145 hrs and 1200 hrs.

More than one lakh devotees, including those from neighbouring states thronged the temple tank for a holy bath and darshan of the Godess.
