Mother poisons 4 daughters, commits suicide

Malda, Nov 25 (UNI) A housewife poisoned to death her four daughters and committed suicide today in Mahodipur village under English Bazar Police Station in this district of West Bengal.

Police said Shova Mandal (35) took the extreme step owing to financial problems.

According to Superintendent of Police Dilip Mandal her husband Hakim (45) was involved in smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border which had to be stopped due to political tension in Bangladesh. As a result, he left for Delhi a few days ago on a job hunt. Police suspect that since he did not communicate with his family his wife was depressed.

They said the bodies were sent for post mortem.
