Metal prices rise on fresh industrial demand

Mumbai, Nov 25 (UNI) Metal prices surged on fresh industrial demand, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange today said.

In the ferrous category, copper heavy rose by Rs 400 per quintal while copper utensils, brass utensils and brass cuttings increased by Rs 300 each per quintal on reduced stock supply.

In the non-ferrous section, zinc slab shot up by Rs 500 per quintal on improved demand while lead ingots fell by Rs 50 per quintal sustained heavy selling pressure.

Tin slab came down by Rs six per kg on thin buying support while Nickel cathode rose by Rs 30 per kg on lesser stock supply.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 35,500, copper utensils - Rs 31,800, brass utensils - Rs 22,700, brass cuttings - Rs 27,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,000.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 39,000, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,000, Zinc slab - Rs 24,000, Lead ingots - Rs 7,800, Tin slab - Rs 575 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,890 (per kg).
