Kerala wins three golds on inaugural day

Bangalore, Nov 25 (UNI) Defending Champion Kerala bagged three golds of the total eight at stake on the inaugural day of the 22nd National Junior Athletics Championship, at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here today.

With international athletes Nitasha Sagar and Kavya Muthanna's splendid performance, hosts Karnataka bagged two golds.

However, the day did not witness any record breaking performance.

For Kerala, Jincemon Joy, K A Harish and Prince Jose bagged gold in 110 Hurdles (U-18 and U-20) and High Jump (U-20) respectively, while Nitasha (U-18) and Kavya (U-20) bagged gold in Long Jump and High Jump events respectively.

Results: Boys: U-20: 10,000 M: Kashinath Aswale (Mah) 1, Muninder Singh (Mah) 2, Sandeep Bathom (MP) 3. T: 30:27.68 sec.

110 Hurdles: K A Harish (Ker) 1, Krish Beethovan (TN) 2, Parimal Modi (Jhar) 3. T: 15.04 sec.

High Jump: Prince Jose (Ker) 1, G Muralikrishnan (TN) 2, Rajesh Kaliramana (Har) 3. H: 2.06 M.

Girls: High Jump: Kavya Muthanna (Kar) 1, Dessymol Abraham (Ker) 2, Geethu Skaria (Ker) 3. H: 1.68 M.

Discus Throw: Priyanka Bhanot (Del) 1, Praveen Kumari 2, Babli (Har) 3. D: 44.31.

Javelin Throw: Pramila (Har) 1, Jyothy Bhaskar (TN) 2, Alpesh (Har) 3 D: 39.98 M.

U-18: Boys: 110 Hurdles: Jincemon Joy (Ker) 1, P Packiaraj (TN) 2, Kuman Naik (Kar) 3, T:14.80 sec.

Girls: Long Jump: Natasha Sagar (Kar) 1, G Nagalakshmi (TN) 2, Papia Khatun (WB) 3. D: 5.54 M.
