JIPMER Anti conversion Peoples JAC to stage dharna on Dec 1
Puducherry, Nov 25 (UNI) The JIPMER Anti-Conversion Peoples Joint Action Committee (JAC) today said it would mobilise the public and organise a dharna at the Periyar Square here on December one to press the Centre to drop its move to grant autonomous status to the institute.
The JAC strongly accused PMK founder leader Dr M Ramadoss of showing 'disrespect' to the political party leaders who supported the JIMPER employees strike.
Addressing a press conference here, Joint Action Committee President and former state CPI(M) Secretary T Murugan said a resolution to this effect was adopted at an all party meeting here today.
Mr Murugan said when the committee visited New Delhi last month, several political party leaders including Prakash Karat and L K Advani assured them to oppose the JIPMER Bill in the Parliament.
He also condemned AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy for hiding the truth on the committee's request of getting an appointment with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi when they were in New Delhi.
Confederation of Puducherry State Government Employees Association President Balamohanan, present on the occasion, said despite the court order to reinstate the five JIPMER employees dismissed, JIPMER Director Dr Subba Rao had given a re-appointment order to them.
Stating this as contempt of court, Mr Balamohanan urged the Director to reinstate them in accordance with their previous service.
