JCO, 4 soldiers and 2 militants killed in south Kashmir
Srinagar, Nov 25 (UNI) A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) 4 soldiers and two militants were killed and four security jawans injured in Jammu and Kashmir today.
A defence spokesman said troops of 62 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a search operation at village Neeldora, 3 km from Shopian, in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, following a tip-off that some militants were hiding there.
However, when the troops were about to storm a particular house, militants fired at them. In the fierce clash, four soldiers, including a JCO. A militant of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) was also killed.
Reinforcement was rushed from nearby camps and the cordon in the area has further been tightened.
The operation was going on, the spokesman said.
A police spokesman said Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir from Imam Sahib and Gagran have also joined the operation.
Militants attacked a joint search party of security forces and SOG t Rampora, Bandipora, in the north Kashmir district of Baramulla last night.
Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce encounter a SPO and two army jawans were injured. The SPO later died in the hospital.
One militant was reportedly killed in the encounter, official sources said.
