Gerrard back on target in Liverpool win
LONDON, Nov 25 (Reuters) Captain Steven Gerrard scored his first Premier League goal of the season to give Liverpool a 1-0 victory over Manchester City today.
Gerrard broke forward after 68 minutes to beat City keeper Nicky Weaver with a fierce shot from 20 metres and clinch eighth-placed Liverpool's sixth home league win of the season, although they are yet to win away.
Aston Villa moved above Arsenal into fourth place with a 1-1 draw at home to Middlesbrough. The Gunners can climb to third when they play at Bolton Wanderers later.
West Ham United welcomed new Icelandic owner Eggert Magnusson to Upton Park before beating fellow strugglers Sheffield United 1-0 while Reading's good form continued with a 1-0 win at 10-man Fulham.
Charlton Athletic stayed bottom after coming from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Everton at the Valley.
