Five killed, two injured in accident

Mannargudi, Nov 25: Five people, including two women, were killed and two others injured, when the van in which they were travelling collided with a truck at Kuruvaimozhi near here in Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu last evening.

Police said the victims were returning home after visiting a bereaved family at Alangudi, when the truck, proceeding towards Needamangalam collided with the van, killing five people on the spot.

Local people, with the assistance of police, rescued two people, and admitted them to the Thanjavur Medical College Hospital, where the condition of one of the injured was stated to be serious.
