Deputy collector arrested for 'crushing' a man

Surendranagar, Nov 25 (UNI) Deputy Collector of Dhudkhar wildlife sanctuary B G Patel has been arrested for allegedly crushing a man under his car in a drunken state.

He was also absent from duty since last Friday, sources said.

Patel, who has been posted here for the last two years is also incharge of Special Planning Scheme. Interestingly, Patel whose residence is in Gandhinagar, travels 300 km daily to and fro to his office here.

Manoj Dodia a government employee, was driving a scooter When the accident took place yesterday near sector 3 Cha near Gandhinagar S T depot.

A large number of passer-by and local residents gathered at the spot and caught Patel.

He was later handed over to the police and a complaint was registered at sector 6 in Gandhinagar. Patel has been arrested and booked for rash driving, the police said.
