Delhi Govt to construct small kiosks all across capital
New Delhi, Nov 25 (UNI) Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today reiterated that the Delhi Government will construct small kiosks, in a series of 2000 each, all across the Capital.
''This would go a long way in providing a solution to the present situation of the sealing drive,'' Ms Dikshit said after inaugurating the construction work of roads and drains at Dilshad Colony in East Delhi.
The Chief Minister said in the run up to the 2010 Commonwealth Games the capital, especially East Delhi, will witness infrastructure development.
''Construction of the Games villages in the Trans Yamuna Area will not only catalyse all round development of the area but would also ensure civic services and civic infrastructure at par with the most developed localities of New Delhi,'' she added.
Ms Dikshit said the Government was fully aware of developmental needs in the Trans Yamuna area and is committed to fulfilling them in the right earnest.
''The past few years have witnessed coming up of several hospitals, community centres and a cultural centre in the area and with growth catalyzed by the proposed construction of the Commonwealth Games Village in the area, East Delhi is expected to be at par with any other developed area of the Capital,'' she added.
She said the Public Works Department of Delhi has been entrusted with number of projects relating to construction of flyovers and widening of roads in East Delhi, which would go a long way in decongesting traffic.
As part of the 'Bhagidari' scheme, an estimated cost of Rs 2.83 crore, Rs 98.5 lakh has been deposited by the residents of Dilshad Colony for the construction of roads and drains, which would be completed within 5 months.
