DD to telecast Annual Awards function on Nov 26

New Delhi, Nov 25: Doordarshan will telecast tomorrow the 6th ''DD Annual Awards, 2006'' from 2130 hrs onwards on its national channel DD-1.

Doordarshan organised its annual awards presentation ceremony at a glittering function in the open air theatre at its Jalandhar Centre on November 18.

Jnanpeeth Aawrd winner Gurudiyal Singh was the chief guest while Prasar Bharati CEO Brijeshwar Singh was the chairperson. Mr R N Bisaria, member, Prasar Bharti, was the guest of honour and Mr Leeladhar Mandloi, Director General, Doordarshan, were also present.

The awards were given in 44 categories, including Best Technical and Programme Wing and best programmes of outside producers.

For each category, the awards were decided by a four-member jury.

A scintillating entertainment programme was also organised on the occasion, which saw the participation of Gurdas Mann, Jaspinder Narula, Hans raj Hans, Naresh Iyer, who sang the songs of blockbuster 'Rang De Basanti', and Sanjeevani.

Film and TV actors Kiran Kumar, Parikshit Sahni, Rajesh Puri and others graced the occasion while film actress and TV anchor Divya Dutta was the host.

''For the last 4-5 years, Doordarshan has been organising its annual awards function, but this year's event was simply the best so far,'' a Doordarshan official said.
