Chaina come back to defeat Japan

Hyderabad, Nov 24 (UNI) Coming back strongly in the Group-A tie, China defeated Japan 2-1, while Thailand trounced Philippines 2-1 though they lost the mixed doubles match in the Group-B tie of the First edition of the Asia Hopman Cup Tennis Championship being played at SAAP Tennis Complex here today.

In the decider, Chinese pair Shuai Zhang and Mao-Xin Gong, recouping all their energy, crushed Japanese pair Tomoko Yonemura and Yuichi Sugita 6-0, 6-1, while Czarina Arevalo and Patrick Tierro of Philippines defeated Thai pair Nundnida Luangnam and Weerapat Doakmaiklee in a hard fought 6-3, 6-4 match.
