Cardinal inaugurates 'Cross Museum' in South Goa
Panaji, Nov 25 (UNI) A unique ''Cross Museum'' was inaugurated by the President of Pontifical Council for Culture and Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue, Vatican, Rome, Cardinal Paul Poupard, near the famous tourist attracton ''Big Foot'' at Loutolim in South Goa.
Museum Curator-cum-Owner Maendra Alvares yesterday referred the ''Cross Museum''as the final resting place of the ''world wide collection of Crosses''.
The collection houses a total of 630 crosses, classified under 70 heads.
Cardinal Poupard said the ''Cross Museum'' was a unique aspect in the world of art or even museums as such.
He was accompanied by Rev Fr Tony Fernandes and the Rector of the Seminary of Pilar, Rev Fr Seby Mascarenhas.
Later, Mr Alvares explained the importance of the crosses and guided a tour of 'Ancestral Goa' where the museum is located.
