Asom registers innings victory over Goa
Guwahati, Nov 25 (UNI) Asom started this year's Ranji campaign on a winning note against Goa at the Nehru Stadium here today.
The hosts beat Goa by an innings and 177 runs and earned five points from the match.
Asom, ridding on an unbeaten century by V Sarvanan (109), scored 410 for eight when skipper J Arun Kumar declared the innings.
Sarvanan, in his 315-minute innings, struck his fifth first class century with 10 fours and a huge six over long on.
Goa surrendered to the pace of Sujay Tarafdar and spin of Anand Kattis. As both the bowlers took three wickets apiece and bundled out Goa for 99 runs.
Asom earned an additional point for bowling out the opposition twice, along with the four points collected for the outright win.
